Getting rid of mould can be tricky. But using the right mould remover can make a big difference. I’ve tested out a bunch of different cleaning products designed to remove mould that are available in Australia. Here are the best mould removers in Australia:
The Best Mould Removers Available in Australia
I tested 13 different products and chose to include these 4 in my best of list. Each product was tested in a shower which a small amount of mould on the grout.
Ajax Professional Mould Remover
Ajax Professional Mould remover is my goto product for cleaning mould from the shower. It’s one of the few products available with a formula strong enough to kill mould. I also found it works extremely well at killing off pink mould and getting rid of soap scum from tiles.
I’ve found this can remove mould from silicone sealant as well but it may take a few goes. But it does eventually seem to penetrate and kill off the mould.
The bottle can be used upside down for easy application. The formula does foam but I’ve found it does run down walls quite quickly, which is the only downside.
Overall this is my number one product when it comes to mould removal.

Selleys Rapid Mould Killer
Selleys makes a range of bathroom cleaning products which are designed to be used alongside their sealants. Selleys Rapid Mould Killer is an effective product that is similar to Ajax professional. With one spray you’ll see the mould disappear in a couple of minutes.
I can’t attest to how effective this is at removing mould embedded in silicone sealant. But I imagine it is similar to Ajax in that it takes a few goes for it to really penetrate.
Glassguard Mould Remover Gel
If you’ve got mould under silicone it can be extremely difficult to get rid of it. One effective product is GlassGuard Mould Remover Gel. Unlike the sprays, this gel is thicker and can sit on top of silicone for a longer period and effectively kill trapped mould.
Ajax Professional and Selleys Mould Killer work well on surface mould, but are less effective on stubborn mould trapped in silicone and grout. This is where a product like GlassGuard comes in handy.
SkylarLife Mould Remover
The SyklarLife mould remover gel is very similar to the Glassguard product. You squeeze the gel out on the effected area and leave it for 7-8 hours. In terms of effectiveness, I’ve found it’s about the same as the Glassguard product albeit with a slightly more annoying nozzle which is less accurate. But overall it’s another great mould remove for removing stubborn mould and stains from silicone.
